Great to know there are disciples in the front lines.

A Couple of Cliffords

Hello ALL!

Hope you all are well! You may be wondering what we’ve been up to since we returned from our mission, about a month ago! Don’t worry, we have been running (well…slow running for Rachel) around like crazy!

After a mission, you suddenly become very popular and receive invitations to give report-backs at churches, small groups, and radio stations, so John especially has been kept very busy with that, preaching a few times, and giving multiple presentations.

HERE! is the link to our radio interview, where we spoke about our experiences in Zambia, Tanzania, and Namibia!

John has not only been preaching at our home church, but also spoke at 2 missions conferences. One was here in Cape Town, and he encouraged the pastors and leaders there with a thought-provoking exhortation about the message of a missionary. He expounded upon Colossians 1:28-29, challenging the congregation about what they know about…

Marketing executives, adulterous wives, manipulative girlfriends, and prostitutes all know the power of sex. Sexual autonomy is cherished and raises passions high when it is threatened. Many religious system has codified sexual self control in the form of abstinence as the pinnacle of spiritual purity, a celibate priestly class in the Roman system being an example. It is no wonder findings such as reported here are suppressed:

The Suppression of Truth

The Jerusalem Chamber

Befőtt-2

What are the “autographs” of Scripture? If we don’t have the original writings how can I be certain I have the Word of God? Should I learn the original languages? What is textual criticism? What are some different theories of translation? What rights do I have as a Christian? These are some of the important questions we answer on today’s episode. Join Kyle, Nathan, Shawn, and Joel as we discuss the sufficiency of the Bible from Westminster Confession of Faith 1.8:

The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old), and the New Testament in Greek (which, at the time of the writing of it, was most generally known to the nations), being immediately inspired by God, and, by His singular care and providence, kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical; so as, in all controversies of religion, the Church is…

I’m mindful of history being in the hands of the victors.

The Real World Realist

In Abraham Lincoln’s first inaugural address, Lincoln made it known that; (1) he had no legal authority to interfere with slavery where it existed, (2) that he had no inclination or intentions to do so even if he had the legal authority, (3) that he would enforce the Fugitive Slave Act, returning runaway slaves escaping to the North to their Master’s in the South, (4) that he fully supported the Thirteen Amendment then being debated in Congress which would protect slavery in perpetuity and was irrevocable. He later stated, “Do not paint me with the Abolitionist brush”.

Decades before the Civil War, the South, through harsh tariffs, had been supplying about 85% of the country’s revenue, nearly all of which was being spent in the North to boost it’s economy, by building manufacturing, infrastructure, railroads, canals, etc. With the passage of the 47% Morrill Tariff, the final nail was…

Out Of the Treasure of His Heart Tyson Fury Speaks

What do you care about? What drives you? What are you hungry for?

It’s easy to discover your heart, get very drunk. Drunks who I have met thus far over the festive season have exposed insecurity, frustrations and a self destructive nature.

Oh, you don’t want to get drunk! That’s an encouraging sign. You’ll have to adopt a different test. Where do you go to first to stimulate your senses? Is it current affairs, luxuries, social media? What motivated where you invested your time treasure and talent today?

Was it to repay a debt you furnished yourself with for the convenience of a decent car? Was it to accrue the funds to take a holiday where you can indulge your desire for sun, or maybe one of those annual gatherings of nominal Christian like New Wine? Maybe you’re are concerned for your dotage?

Tyson Fury seems to have invested his considerable time treasure and talent to the service of the Lord. Seeing as Jesus Christ, as the author of life itself, provides him the talents to box Tyson is simply doing what is wise.

What about you?
